It's time to Let Britain Fly.

We are the campaign to expand airport capacity in London and the South East to protect and enhance Britain’s status as a global aviation hub. Now that the Airports Commission has published its Final Report our aim is to ensure the Government responds to the Commission’s clear recommendation to build a new runway at Heathrow in a timely and positive fashion; and commits to an early Parliamentary vote by summer 2016 at the latest.

Britain needs a new runway – UK businesses cannot afford further delay

On September 6, 2016 by lilyrivera

In the year since the Airports Commission published its recommendation on the expansion of airports capacity, Britain has missed out on at least £9.5bn in trade with emerging economies because we do not have a new runway. When the UK is looking to re-energise its trading relationships across the globe, we cannot afford to fall behind Paris, Frankfurt or Amsterdam. Air freight is essential to the success of the UK economy, and 40% of our exports travel by air. That includes anything which is valuable, perishable or required just-in-time – from Scottish salmon to pharmaceuticals, Brompton bikes to Formula One cars. Overall, three-quarters of those air-freight exports leave from London airports, and the new runway will be a critical piece of national infrastructure, securing growth and jobs across the UK. A new runway will send a strong message to the rest of the world that the UK is still open for business. British business cannot afford further delay and uncertainty.
